Statement in support of Stanford’s Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander community

Main content start

With a heavy heart, we write to express how disturbed and troubled we are about the recent upsurge in anti-Asian hostility and attacks.

Racism and hatred have no place at Stanford. We wish to reiterate and reaffirm our support of the March 18 statement issued by Stanford President Marc Tessier-Lavigne, and in our own words stress how important it is that Asian members of our community - students, postdocs, staff, faculty, alumni, and their families - know that we take our responsibility seriously to foster an inclusive environment.  We care deeply about your safety and well-being.

We recognize that these attacks are causing continued anxiety and trauma. As we continue to work together to create a safe and inclusive community in person and online, we are sharing some important resources for documenting and addressing hate crimes, safety tips, and ways to help:

We take this moment to remind ourselves that we promote the inherent equity of all people.  We are in this together, and we stand united and in support.
