Academic Staff perform research which ordinarily requires a Ph.D. and are involved in the execution and often the design of a Principal Investigator's research activities. They can also assist regular faculty in the guidance of graduate students in the research lab. Academic Staff are appointed with fixed-terms (co-terminal with available funding) through a formal process which includes approvals at the department and school level. The university requires a search to be conducted to fill these positions. Searches may be waived by the human resources department when provided with a thorough justification.
To find out more about these positions, refer to the Research Policy Handbook.
To request an academic staff appointment or reappointment, send an email to Marlys LeSene, the staffing administrator.
