Graduate Admissions for Current Stanford Graduate Students
Current Stanford graduate students in other departments may apply for
admission to any of our degree programs, either for an additional degree
or to transfer from their current department. Please submit your completed
application directly to the Bioengineering Student Service Office in
Clark Center Room S-166 by December 2, 2008.
You should include the following:
- Transfer Application Form (PDF)
- Transfer Essay
- Relevant course list in the fields of Engineering,
Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science
and related areas.
- Two Letters
of Recommendation (PDF), from your advisor
or other Stanford faculty members. This requirement does not
apply if your
application is being reviewed during your first quarter at Stanford.
- Graduate
Authorization Petition (PDF). Please review the following
items on this form carefully.
Requested Program Change
If you wish to switch programs, and do not intend to complete
your current program, use the Change of Primary Graduate
Degree Program section. If you wish to add
a program, and intend to complete your current program, use the Additional
Degree Program section.
Authorization Decision
Please get a signature from your current department. This
is usually the Student Service Officer’s signature,
not the Chair’s. We will sign the Department Reviewing
Application for New Degree Program section after we have
evaluated your application.
After
receipt of the above, we will request a copy of your application
file from your current department, which includes
transcripts and recommendation
letters
from your original application at Stanford.
Decisions
will be made by the end of April. In most cases, we need to review the whole application
pool to determine the top applicants.
